59th (2nd Notts) Regiment of Foot Officer’s shoulder belt plate

A fine scarce example. Burnished gilt rectangular plate mounted with silver laurel wreath with crown above; to the centre milled “LIX” over a pierced, rope edged, arching scroll “Bhurtpore”. Above the crown, a rope edged tri-part scroll “Java Peninsula Nive”; another below the wreath “Vittoria Corunna St. Sebastian”. Reverse retains original fixings, comprising two hooks at the top and two studs at the bottom. Some wear to gilt otherwise GC. (Parkyn 257)
