74th (Highlanders) Regiment pre 1881 Officer’s plaid Brooch

A very fine unmarked sliver example on stout pin with ornate hingle. Silver quoit mounted with an elephant standing on a scroll inscribed “Assaye”. Two of the four small nuts securing the elephant no longer present. 74th became 2nd Battalion Highland Light Infantry on Friday 1st July 1881
