A very fine example of brown fur, worn by the HAC Light Cavalry Troop and later HAC Horse Artillery, with plain scarlet bag to the crown which falls to the right side. Around the body three lines of gold gimp cord, the crown is mounted with a gilt leaf socket which supports a tall white ostrich feather plume with scarlet vulture feather base. Crimson quilted silk lining embossed with the tailor’s name of Hobson & Son; retains leather sweatband. Housed in the original metal storage tin, retaining brass name plate, now faint. Minor age wear, with slight dulling to the scarlet. Plume with separate metal storage/carrying tin.
