Fine rare example. Silvered skull with giltmetal scrolling Acanthus decoration to the front and rear peaks and also gilt oakleaf spin to the rear. To the front a fine silver, gilt Victorian helmet plate ornamented with red and blue enamelof regimental pattern. The crown is surmounted by a gilt plume holder, which supports a replacement red horsehair plume with gilt rosehead boss. A pair of gilt roseheadbosses support a leather backed chinchain. The interior with original silk topped crimson leather lining.
