A rare and good quality portrait painted onto ivory. The portrait depicts an Officer head and shoulders, wearing scarlet coatee with blue facings and silvered chained wings. His white leather shoulder belt can be clearly seen with his gilt shoulder belt plate . To the corner of the portrait is the date 1798. Contained in the original carved wood oval frame (split top and bottom not affecting image). Overall height 3 1/2 inches. Raised in 1796 with Lord Blaney commanding; 1804 Army List shows just four Officers.
