A very fine and scarce die-stamped unmarked silver example. Resting in a pierced rose wreath an oval Garter surmounted by a Ducal Crown, to the centre an ornate shield charged with three stag’s heads; a scroll across the base of the wreath inscribed “CAVENDO TUTUS”. Mirrored backing plate. Four screw posts to reverse.
Raised 12th January 1855, designed as a Chatsworth Rifles 22nd May 1855. Became 3rd Bn. Derbyshire Regiment on 1st July 1881 amalgamating with 5th Bn on 1st April 1891.
