5th (Princess Charlotte of Wales’s) Dragoon Guards Officers Helmet

A magnificent and scarce example by an Officer of the 5th (Princess Charlotte of Wales’s) Dragoon Guards. Fire gilt skull decorated with laurel leaves; to the front a helmet plate of silvered cut star overlaid with a fire gilt title strap inscribed “P.C.W. Dragoon Guards” encircling a silvered numeral “5” set on a gilt ground. A gilt fluted spike supports the white over red regimental pattern horsehair plume with its gilt rose boss. To each side, a rose head boss which supports the gilt and red leather backed interlocking chin chain. Cotton lining to the interior. The lining is part shot. Overall a superb specimen.
