Victorian Essex Regiment Officer’s Home Service Pattern Helmet.

A fine Victorian example of the Home Service Pattern blue cloth helmet by Hawkes & Co of London complete with gilt metal cross piece, spike and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed chin chain.  To the front, a gilt plate with oakleaf sprays and Garter bearing central three turret castle. Retaining silvered title scroll “THE ESSEX REGIMENT”.  Retains leather sweatband with silk edging and tailor’s stamp to the interior. Also faint pencil name. Overall GC Good clean condition.
