A fine scarce die-stamped blackened example with burnished silvered highlights circa 1880-87. Crowned Maltese cross, with lions between the arms, bearing a circlet inscribed “Surrey Rifle Volunteer Corps”; to the voided centre, a strung bugle with “3” lodged between the cords. Three loops to reverse. Modern red cloth central backing for display
Raised 13th March 1860 at Lambeth; redesignated 7th on 3rd September 1880 with headquarters at New Street, Kennington Park , renumbered 8th only 4 days later. Became a VB of the Royal West Surrey Regiment on Friday 1st July 1881; redesignated as 4th VB on 1st March 1883.
