42nd Madras Native Infantry Victorian Officer’s 'Albert' shako plate

Splendid rare fire-gilt example cica 1844-55. Crowned ten pointed star mounted with laurel palm sprays enclosing a strap inscribed “Madras Native Infantry” with seeded “XLII” to burnished gilt centre. Two horizontal loops to reverse. Bottom ray slightly shortened for continued service on the 1856 pattern shako; top pearl of crown restored.
