Highland Light Infantry 1911 hallmarked silver HLI plaid brooch

A fine Officer’s example by J & Co (Jennens) bearing 1911 Birmingham hallmarks. Quoit with engraved edge mounted with thistle wreath bearing 30 battle honours to “Modder River” and “South Africa 1899-1901”. To the centre, a cut silver Star of the Order of the Thistle; mounted on the Star, a crown with a curled bugle horn below, “HLI” monogram to the centre. Beneath the horn, a scroll inscribed “Assaye” with the Elephant below. Original stout pin to reverse
